What is time management and what are its key points

Time management is a concept usually applied within organizations with the aim of generating productivity. However, this technique can also be easily transferred to our daily tasks, which will help us make the most of our day by using the available time as efficiently as possible.

To apply good time management, the first thing you need is consistency, that is, establishing various routines and applying each one consistently over several weeks, until they become a habit.

Mastering time management offers several advantages, among which productivity stands out, but it also contributes to aspects such as: stress reduction, a greater balance between work and our private life, as well as a higher quality of life, which allows us to spend quality time with family and friends.

Key points for a good time management technique

Before starting to apply this method, we recommend considering the following points:

Prioritize three projects or activities and set their objectives

If you want to be truly productive and not waste time, you should try to prioritize your most important projects, which, in turn, will be translated into concrete objectives to be achieved over certain periods, it can be monthly or weekly. This will help you define daily tasks through planning, focusing on your most relevant tasks.

For example, you can make a list of everything you would like to do, all the projects you have without setting limits, and then classify these activities by priority, always keeping your criteria in mind; what is most important for your future and allows you to advance faster.

Establish rules and steps to take

Classify tasks into urgent and important actions, and those that are not. Always organize your day before starting. Define and write down the most important tasks according to the projects and objectives selected in the previous point and set deadlines to finish them without interruptions.

    Organize your environment

Try to keep your workspace tidy and don't accumulate documents. Try to clearly identify the work cards that are a priority for your objectives, whether physical or electronic, rename your files to find them easily, delete useless documents and classify those that are not. This will allow you to have greater organization and not deviate from your priorities.

As you can see, implementing good time management means changing habits and routines that demand consistency and determination; however, the benefits are many since, by being better organized and focused, it will give us the opportunity to balance our personal and work life, providing us with the opportunity to enjoy our hobbies, while advancing in our projects.
