5 Tips to Boost Your Productivity

Undoubtedly, the situation we are going through has greatly transformed the way we work.

Those who were used to spending their days confined in an office are now experiencing working from home for the first time. For some, it's a dream come true, but for others, adapting to the change hasn't been so easy.

That's why we want to share 5 tips that can help improve your productivity, especially if you're working from home or as a freelancer:

    1. Take care of your rest and sleep hours

If you don't get enough rest at night, there's no way you'll perform well during the day. Taking care of your sleep habits is essential, and a good first step is to establish an appropriate time to go to bed each day.

Try to get the recommended 7 or 8 hours of rest so that when you wake up, you feel energetic and ready to start the day.

    2. Plan your day

If you want to have a productive day, it's very important that you first define your objectives and goals for that day. What activities do you intend to carry out? What are your priorities? What tasks can wait?

If you are clear about what you need to do and define where you will start, it will be much easier to achieve your goals and, at the end of your workday, feel that satisfaction of having had a super productive day.

Using a planner (ahem... we have some super cute ones) helps you put that list of tasks, goals, and even what motivates you on paper, so you should definitely check out our online store.

    3. Avoid distractions

There's no doubt that with technology, we have more distractions than ever. Every minute we get a new notification that someone tagged us on Instagram, messaged us on WhatsApp, or that the new season of that series we've been waiting for has been released.

However, being aware of all that won't allow you to progress with your tasks. It's important to try to silence any notifications that are not necessary for your work, as well as being careful not to work near a place with too much noise or people who could distract you.

Something that never fails is finding an instrumental or acoustic playlist that allows you to concentrate, but at the same time helps you with that extra motivation to start your day.

    4. Take breaks

It doesn't matter if you're the most hyperactive person on the planet, even you need breaks. We are human and we cannot expect to work all day without stopping: it's not realistic, and it wouldn't allow us to maintain the level of concentration we need.

That's why you need to take a few minutes of rest during your workday. Take advantage to move around a bit, clear your mind, and prepare to continue.

    5. Organize your workspace

We won't get tired of saying it: your workspace has to inspire you and make you feel good. That's why it's so important to take care of what you put in it: from the painting that will decorate the wall, to the notepad where you'll take your notes. Everything will contribute to creating a pleasant and positive environment, or turning it into a gray space where inspiration will never arrive.

It goes without saying that besides being beautiful, your space must be organized. Don't leave unnecessary papers, keep your accessories inside pen holders, cups, or any small box that allows you to organize them.

    Bonus: learn to say no

In Mexico, we particularly struggle to say no to someone. For some reason, we feel obliged to please everyone and we always try to say yes, even though deep down we would like to say no.

If you want to be a productive (and happy!) person, you need to learn to say no. There are things that simply don't motivate you and it's not worth spending your time doing them, others that are not your responsibility, and others that you simply don't want to do.

Be that as it may, practice saying "no" so you can say "yes" to yourself.
